Family photos Can Be Fun!
Here are some tips on how to make it work!
We know that the idea of taking family photos can be stressful, especially if you’re concerned about how everyone will look or (even act that day) haha! We totally understand! We have been there before with our own kids and want you to know that we are fully prepared for all of the emotions. But you may be surprised, it can also be a truly memorable experience!
4 Tips to enjoy the process…
Dress to impress! We discuss what everyone will wear prior to the shoot, so that it is one less thing worry or stress about that day. As a rule of thumb, mom should always decide what to wear first, then the rest of the family can coordinate. We moms are never in photos and let’s face it, we are the most self-conscious about how we look and how our clothes fit especially after having kids. So mom should always feel comfortable and beautiful with what she is wearing!
Try to have everyone get plenty of rest so that there is lots of good energy for the session, but also make sure the kids are fed & happy! Bring some snacks to have on hand just in case! Bribing is always a good resource so make sure that if you are bringing something they don’t see it so they are not asking for it! Also, follow through with what you promise after the shoot!
Before the shoot, don’t put too much stress or pressure on everything looking perfect. The best images are the ones that are natural and that does mean everybody needs to be looking at the camera smiling! Leave that to me to capture your family like it is even if its a beautiful chaos…embrace it!
Always think about how you want to enjoy your images! This will help with the session flow and image goals! After all nobody wants to have all those great memories getting digital dust in a flash drive. Once you see the final product, you’ll be amazed wiith the results and will want to plan to have your family photos updated every year!.
